Environmental, Social and Governance
At Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, we are committed to upholding Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles to ensure that your stay goes beyond mere comfort. We integrate sustainable practices into our operations, prioritise diversity in our recruitment, and actively contribute to local communities. Our aim is to create an environmentally friendly and socially responsible experience, all for the betterment of our planet and the well-being of our guests and associates.
Here are some of our initiatives:
Going Strawless
Since 2018, all of our hotels and resorts worldwide have stopped providing plastic straws. Going strawless is a group-wide initiative, and all of our food and beverage outlets have discontinued the use of plastic straws. As an environmentally-friendly alternative, biodegradable paper straws will only be provided upon request by our guests. This change is aimed at minimizing our environmental impact and supporting our marine conservation efforts. Our ultimate goal is to prevent single-use plastic items from polluting our beaches and oceans.
Switching to Glass Bottles
At Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, we have embarked on a journey to create a greener and more sustainable future by progressively phasing out plastic bottles from our hotels and resorts. Instead, we now serve drinking water in reusable glass bottles in our rooms and food and beverage outlets. By choosing to stay with us at Berjaya Hotels & Resorts, you're supporting our eco-friendly initiative and conserving the environment.
Go Green & Be Rewarded
Reusing bed linens and towels can help reduce water waste and environmental impact. Since 2023, Berjaya Hotels & Resorts has kickstarted the ‘Go Green & Be Rewarded’ campaign to encourage guests to make environmentally-friendly changes. It’s easy: you can support this sustainability effort by choosing our Eco-Friendly Stay Plan. By declining daily change of bed linens and towels in your room, you will be rewarded with incentives to be used within the hotels and resorts where you’ve made your booking.
Environmental Conservation
Our hotels and resorts have been actively organising clean-up events to restore the beauty of our natural landscapes. This includes picking up litter and removing debris, both on land and in our oceans. Additionally, our island resorts have been organising clean-up days to raise awareness of marine conservation and highlight the importance of preserving our coral reefs. Through these initiatives, we have brought together a passionate community that shares a common goal: protecting and conserving our environment.
